Whether you are about to make the jump from corporate to launch something new, working on side hustles and want to take those full-time, just starting out on your entrepreneurial journey, or struggling to scalewe are here to support you & don’t want you to continue on alone.

RT CUSTER (00:00):
I think if you are not sending at least one email a week for your brand, and you are a coach, a consultant to podcaster, a YouTuber, a product-based business owner, if you’re an entrepreneur and you want to grow a following, I don’t care if you’re posting five times a day on Instagram, if you are not sending a weekly email newsletter at least one a week, you have already lost.

JIM CARTER (00:40):
Welcome back to the Fast Foundation’s podcast. I am your co-host, Jim Carter, here with RT Custer. How you doing today, RT?

RT CUSTER (00:49):
I’m doing great. You’re not gonna believe what we call these episode types people.

JIM CARTER (00:54):
What would be dare to call this

RT CUSTER (00:57):
Carter and Custer. and, and why do we call them that? Jim?

JIM CARTER (01:01):
Um, slightly biased, but probably because of our last names.

RT CUSTER (01:07):
Yeah. And those are the names on our building, which, um, we also, if you didn’t know, own an advertising agency called Carter and Custer. You can check it out at carterandcuster.com. Um, and one of the things that we do as an agency and we both love is email marketing. So that’s what we’re talking about today.

JIM CARTER (01:27):
Yeah. You know, we, we have a list to the floor of ideas, stuff that we wanna share, um, knowledge that, you know, we’ve learned over time that we just want to continue to put out on the show. And I’ve found that I was starting to actually text out some of my favorite, um, email newsletters last week. We’re thinking about what the topic should be for this one. And RT hit me with, dude, we should just talk about our favorite email newsletters, because there are so many and it’s hard to distill, you know, what, what the best ones are, but it really depends on what you’re looking for. There’s financial newsletters, there’s economic newsletters, there’s stuff for startups, there’s stuff for late stage entrepreneurs, you know, busy CEOs. We wanted to try to find something and kind of curate a list for all of you to be right where you need to be. So this episode is about the best email newsletters for the busy entrepreneur. And they’re absolutely ones that we love

RT CUSTER (02:18):
For sure. They, we, we love them. I don’t like, I don’t love the word busy, um, but I think a lot of people use that word to describe them, describe themselves, especially people like us that are multi-passionate entrepreneurs with lots of different things going on. You don’t have a whole lot of time in the day to read email newsletters, much less emails in general. So if you’re gonna read one, probably make it one of these. These are the ones that, that we love, that we read. Not every single day, every single one that’s just not feasible. But I skim a few of these every day, look for stories that are interesting and it just, it, it brings some really great conversations throughout the day with the teams. Um, we forward these to each other, to our teams sometimes just to say, Hey, have you seen this? Have you heard about this? Like, whoa, that’s cool. I didn’t know that was happening. It’s the way that I get my news. I dunno about you, but I don’t watch the news anymore. So this is my version of TV news is reading some of these emails.

JIM CARTER (03:21):
Yeah, I, I really don’t either. Just because, you know, we surround ourself by kind of this positive propaganda, these, these opportunities to make sure that we’re filling our cup with the things that actually make us better. And it’s not saying that we want to be shy or we’re not paying attention to the rest of the world, but when there’s so much content out there, there’s so many topics. We wanted to be able to cur curate and kind of customize how we <laugh> the, the little time that we do put into having to understand news and, and keep up with everything. So clearly, if you guys know me, you know that I focus more on the technology side. I, I, I like to keep my pulse on everything. Tech, RT, I know you focus more on a lot of product-based things, a lot of your passions as well. We wanted to put this list together to kind of show you some of our favorites. So we put ’em all together. And before we just jump into the list, you know, there’s, there, there’s a couple key things that we wanna make sure that we can share with you guys. Email, you know, you’ve all heard the content is king. Um, metaphor analogy, I don’t actually don’t know what that is called. Is that a metaphor? Is an analogy? Is it a cliche? It’s probably all three.

(04:25):
It’s one of those. But we truly believe that email is still the king of content. If you really think about that channel, we are inundated by email. And the more email that you can send it, it’s not exactly a volume game anymore. It’s an awareness game. So when you’re thinking about how you want to get your message out, you, you probably heard that, that phrase that it takes so many touchpoints and so many channels of awareness before you actually can get somebody to pick up the phone to place an order to, to chat with you. Well, one of the cheapest and one of the most effective ways to continue to get in front of somebody is to continue to get to the top of their inbox. So when you’re thinking about different channels that you want to market to, that you want to tell stories to, email is a really great way. And we really believe with our agency and with both, both everything that RT and I do, just that written content goes so far. It’s still one of those mediums that people take for granted. Not everybody takes the time and invests in. And that’s one of the reasons why we actually just love emails so much too.

RT CUSTER (05:31):
And I, I have a bit of a hot take here, Jim. And I bet that might come off wrong to some of you guys who aren’t sending at least one email a week, but I’m sorry. It’s totally true. Um, you know, for, from my experience, I’ve sent an email from Vortic watch company every Tuesday afternoon for nearly three years. And it is the backbone of the marketing of our company. Um, I just, I can’t say enough good things about it. And we as an agency are building all kinds of resources around email marketing because we think it’s not the past, it’s the present and the future. Email is not going anywhere. And text is, is new. It’s fun, it’s worth talking about. I’m sure we’ll do another episode about that. But think about it, every day you’re staring at some screen that has emails on it at least a little bit every single day. All of us do it. So how do we get you in that inbox and make your emails worth reading?

JIM CARTER (07:01):
And more than that, it’s, you own these emails, right? We’re not saying you, you, you own the person, but you’re, you’re owning the communication layer. And this is probably another podcast episode we’ll add to it as well as really the difference between owning your list and leasing or renting your list. you’re pushing a Facebook all the time, you’re pushing to Instagram, you’re pushing to TikTok, you’re pushing to Twitter. You don’t own that communication layer at any time. That can change the, the algorithm changes the way that you can actually communicate with those people. You know, have you ever reached out to LinkedIn and ask them with the support ticket, Hey, can you export the list of all the people who you know, follow me? Or, you know, all of my, my first degree connections, one, you’re not gonna hear back two, if you do, they’re just gonna laugh at you

(07:42):
That’s simple. Cause they own that channel. But with email, it’s, it’s a concept in, in lease technology, it’s called data portability. And it’s the ability to make your data portable. If you wanna switch from constant contact to Clavio, if you wanna switch from Flow desk to MailChimp, if you wanna switch from any of these services, all you have to do is export your list, import it somewhere else, and you can fully move away from another and you can pick up right where you leap off. So that’s the importance of really owning your list. And it’s also the same with text, which yeah, we will do a podcast episode on that as well. Cause I love talking about text marketing, but email is a way to go and yeah, you wanna jump in? You excited to talk about these? I love sharing some of these.

RT CUSTER (08:26):
Somebody’s listening and is like, okay, so you got me with the hook of the best email newsletters for the Busy Entrepreneur and we’re like, five minutes in. You still haven’t told me one. So where is it? So if you have Fast forwarded to this point and you’re watching on YouTube and you saw the little thing at the bottom, it’s like, oh, that’s where they actually start saying the first one. Welcome to the show.

(08:46):
Welcome to the show.

(08:48):
Um, thank you for following along. Number one on our list. And you put this here, Jim, I don’t actually subscribe to this. I, this is, some of these are new to me. This is really exciting.

JIM CARTER (08:59):
Yeah. And the ones you put on the list are new to me too. This one’s called Stacked Marketer and, uh, stacked Marketer. I found through, actually you guys will find this out, that once you get on some newsletters, they, they will continue to promote other friends newsletters and you can, you kind of continue to grow with, with just this, this variety, this cascade of, of what you like. So I found about, found out about this from another one we’re gonna talk about in a little bit, the stacked Marketer. Is it kind of exactly what it sounds? It’s it’s marketing trends, it’s insights, it’s tips into where marketing is going. So kinda looking around the corner a little bit earlier and, you know, it’s just some of the things I like about it is just, it’s really well organized, it’s written very well. They, they tell a lot of stories through it. It’s really humorous and they, they take some big complex topics and they break it down into things that are a little bit more actionable. It’s just one of my favorites to keep up with, you know, where marketing is going, learning about new tips and tricks along the way.

RT CUSTER (09:56):
That’s awesome. Yeah, I’m definitely gonna have to subscribe. I love all all things marketing and marketing emails and emails about marketing because I love email marketing. I mean, it’s just, it’s all my things. So I’m gonna have to subscribe, subscribe to that one. Do you know, is it like a daily thing? Is it a couple times a week? Um, how often [inaudible]

JIM CARTER (10:15):
This, this one is a couple times a week. Um, they do their best to do Roundups and I think they send on this one two times a week. Um, oh, Also worth mentioning you guys, don’t worry about hot searching for any of these while we’re talking. We’re gonna link all of them up in the show notes and it’ll be, um, on the website as well. So every single one we’re gonna talk about, we’ll have a link in the show notes to make it real easy for you to check out and, uh, and subscribe if you wanna check it out.

RT CUSTER (10:37):
So that one stacked marketer scroll down, check it out. And the, the show notes are, uh, underneath us here on YouTube if you’re staring at our pretty faces this morning. Next we have, speaking of looking at Pretty Things Charter, this is one of my favorites. And Jim, you and I both had this on the list, if you like data, if you are a data nerd and if you pronounce data, data, um, then you probably definitely wanna subscribe to this because I think people that use the word data are definitely data nerds. So hop on this list, it’s called Charter. And basically what they do is they visualize the data in these awesome charts. Not gonna believe this, it’s called Charter cuz there’s a bunch of charts in it. There’s pictures if you’re like me and you’re like, ah, I don’t know a lot of words in these things, jam and rt, I’m not sure about reading. Every morning these guys send beautiful images that chart or graph out really interesting or complex pieces of data or data sets. And it is fascinating.

JIM CARTER (11:48):
It is. And one of the things that I really like about it is they’ll come up with ideas, they’ll process the data and they’ll let the data tell the story. So they’ll, they’ll add complimentary resource links and um, citations and things like that. But they, they, they find these public data sets or they gather ’em theirself. They have a team where they go find everything. They put it together and it’s a mix of everything from economics to what’s happening now to throwback. You know, like I remember one of my favorite ones was like the rise and fall of the music industry and they started with, you know, vinyl records and then they moved into cassette tapes and then they moved into CDs and then like, laser dicks discs. Ooh, wow. You know what? I have this ready to go.

RT CUSTER (12:32):
I don’t what that is.

JIM CARTER (12:33):
I don’t either. But, um, I do have a quick, uh, that’s what she said, sign there for everybody watching on the YouTube channel. Um, two of our good friends, these signs, I’m gonna hold it right in front of my face for the entire mastermind when we were in person. And, um, I just keep on

RT CUSTER (12:49):
you gotta, you gotta, you gotta be careful speaking of that, uh, just, just as, as we’re totally off topic now, um, I got invited to be on a podcast next week and, um, it’s in the watch industry and it is called the Big Black Clocks <laugh> podcast. So, um,

JIM CARTER (13:08):
Wow Tune a row

RT CUSTER (13:10):
If our, if our editors feel the need to take that out, um, you know, go ahead. But I just, you know,

JIM CARTER (13:17):
I’m pretty sure they’re running right through it. Yeah

RT CUSTER (13:18):
It’s, it’s things, it’s things like that that really bring me joy, uh, in this world when somebody spends that kind of time and has the balls to name their thing. Something that you have to really pause and properly pronounce. So, uh, Jim, you were talking about laser disc

JIM CARTER (13:35):
Laser,

RT CUSTER (13:36):
Which might be before my time. I dunno what the hell you’re talking about. CDs.

JIM CARTER (13:40):
Yeah. Well, it had a blip on the radar and that’s the whole purpose of this one is, um, blue rate. You know, numbers are great, but charts really tell a beautiful story. Um, especially fourth busy entrepreneur that wants to see it outta a glance.

RT CUSTER (13:54):
So Charter, check it out. Charter is a great one. Link underneath us. Um, I mean, just, just really cool. And you can, that’s one that you can definitely just skim. You can see the title of the chart, see if you’re interested in it, look at the chart, and you don’t have to read any of the words in the email unless you like, you know, relate to whatever the chart is talking about. And that’s, that’s really cool. Next, next, speaking of just things you can skim kind of on the daily, um, this one comes out every day and it’s produced by one of our best friends, her name’s Dorothy. And so highly, highly recommend this one. And it’s called The Gig, and it’s basically a daily pulse for freelancers, people who have like gig jobs and are looking to grow their freelance business or, you know, work more as contractors for companies. And it’s, um, you know, it’s, it’s kind of like, we’ll, we’ll get to one of my favorites down here at the bottom of the list called The Hustle. Um, if you’re familiar with that one, it’s kind of like that before gig workers or freelancers. It’s really, really good.

JIM CARTER (14:57):
And you don’t just need to be a gig worker and because what you’re doing is you’re keeping a pulse on what’s available. So, Um, our t and i aren’t, aren’t in the gig economy where we’re looking for one-off projects right now, but we still love to get information like this because it challenges us with thinking about what people are interested in and what they’re working towards. And one of the things we love about this newsletter, not only supporting one of our good friends, but she has so much fun with this newsletter. <laugh>, like comedy is like a key pillar of the whole thing and a lot of the

RT CUSTER (15:29):
meme [inaudible] strong

JIM CARTER (15:31):
Yeah. The, the, the memes are fantastic. Like they custom curate the memes, um, probably just for us <laugh>. So, we, we, we definitely love just keeping up with where the gig economy is going, what’s available, and, um, we, we just can’t recommend this one enough. Um, especially if you’re growing your business and you’re looking for one-off gigs, they do a really good job at putting together really actionable advice as you grow your business. A lot of the stuff that we’re teaching, a lot of just these really good concepts that you just need to know as you’re bringing, bringing your business off the ground and continuing to grow it. So, can’t recommend the gig enough. We absolutely love it. And again, our friend is the one that that throws us, so we just love to support a friend.

RT CUSTER (16:14):
A hundred percent. Jim, the next one you put here is Marketing Max. I’ve never heard of this one. Tell me about him.

JIM CARTER (16:20):
Yeah. Marketing Max I found, uh, a couple months ago, and this is a once a week newsletter and it’s a little bit shorter. It’s more of a short and sweet type of an email. But everybody here that knows me go by Cost Hacker. I’ve been a growth hacker for, from pretty much a good majority of my professional career. This is all about growth hacks. This individual takes a lot of these kind of fun trending concepts about what’s going on with the marketing world and what you can do and how you can move things around, try different things, and takes the time to kind of put together a quick little story about how you can take an idea and turn it a new growth hack. And it’s really that simple. It’s just maxing out a growth hack. Um, so this is something that I’m really passionate about because I did this for so many years, but now you can, you can kind of keep a pulse on new ideas, new ways to spin your marketing strategies and things to do to, to just take advantage of cor your business.

RT CUSTER (17:14):
That’s awesome. Yeah. And I love that. It’s, it’s once a week and that’s for anyone listening. You know, some of these are daily, some of these are weekly. You know, I, my hot take was if you’re not sending at least one a week, you’re failing. Really, truly believe that from my soul. But for some of us, we don’t have a whole lot of time to read these newsletters. And so getting just one a week, um, or getting like a roundup of just the, the top of mind stuff is, is really cool. So, um, I’m gonna have to subscribe to, to that one. We’re, we’re all about to get our email inboxes blown up. I’m gonna have to organize these better.

JIM CARTER (17:47):
It’s just when it’s the best content, I don’t mind

RT CUSTER (17:49):
<laugh>, it’s worth it. Oh, a hundred percent. I mean, that’s why we’re doing it. So, uh, so the next one is, is one of our clients and, and long-term friends. And Jim, I’m gonna let you talk about this one because, um, you know, you’ve been working with that team for, uh, much longer than I have. I’m, I’ve just been a fan the whole time, but that’s great. It’s

JIM CARTER (18:07):
Absolutely. Um, so greatness.com is, uh, is the latest media company, uh, put out by the, the team that, that started the School of Greatness podcast. Um, I think most people here know about Lewis Howes and the School of Greatness podcast.

RT CUSTER (18:24):
And if you don’t,

(18:24):
Lewis has

(18:25):
subscribe to that podcast.

JIM CARTER (18:26):
Go check It out. Fantastic podcast.

RT CUSTER (18:27):
Lewis Howes on Instagram and YouTube, because that man is a content machine. So if you want to know how to do it, Lewis Howes at greatness.com is the way to do it

JIM CARTER (18:37):
And, and just do what they’re doing, basically just

RT CUSTER (18:40):
We repeat.

JIM CARTER (18:42):
Yeah. Proud to call Lewis a friend. Uh, we met on, um, a charity chip with, uh, pencils of Promise, uh, in 2017. And I’ve advised since we, we’ve been friends, we’ve been going to the, uh, summit of the Greatness event that Lewis throws for some time. In fact, we took the whole team, uh, this year. It was absolutely wonderful. We had a blast. And, you know, Lewis is just such an advocate for living a life full of love and impact and, and, and, and really sharing the elements that make a great life. And one of, one of the ideas that they, they put out that I’m, I’m proud to be part of, um, help with some of the advisory and, and getting this to life is the launching of greatness.com. And the intention there is for this to be a really wonderful, kind of like the Netflix of great content, if you will.

(19:26):
and the newsletter’s fantastic. You can either do, um, a once a week roundup or you can do four times a week, um, are the options that they give you when you’re subscribing. And in this newsletter they round up some of the best articles that they put together, um, some of the best social media content that they found and really kind of have a pulse on just what the good feeling of the week is. So if you’re just looking for a, a really good vibe, something that will fill your inbox just full of joy and love and, um, there’s definitely a good impact and a, a good wellness component to it. Can’t, uh, can’t recommend the greatness.com newsletter enough.

RT CUSTER (20:04):
And speaking of Fill and Inboxes, my favorite that I get in my inbox every single day is called The Hustle. And so that’s, that’s the next one that we have. The Hustle is, and I think maybe Jim, we can kind of do like a recap and say like, if you’re gonna subscribe to just one, which one would you subscribe to for me so far it’s, it’s the Hustle. I’ve been subscribed to the Hustle for a very long time. It was originally created by Sam Parr, who now runs a, a podcast called My First Million. And he actually sold the Hustle Newsletter to HubSpot for 30 million. So if you needed a reason to start an email list and grow your email list and write a a daily email newsletter, I just gave you 30 million reasons to do so. So the reason he sold it for that much is there’s 2.5 million subscribers to this email list.

(20:59):
It’s crazy. And what the hustle does, 2.5 million people receive this on, on, on the daily Monday through Friday. They do the Daily is what they call it, and it’s a curated roundup of the most impactful news trends, uh, delivered every morning. I love that. I, that one for me is, is a daily skim. I just look, I read the, the subject line, I read the first few, I get so many ideas on just how to write a good email from that email, um, and just kind of like basic entrepreneurial news. And then my favorite is the Sunday story. So every Sunday the Hustle does this deep dive on a business on founders. They do case studies, trends, kind of like charter. They, they build a bunch of charts and stuff and send that, um, every Sunday. And my favorite one I’ve ever got was they did a deep dive on the story of Hollywood video and the last remaining Hollywood video in the country, which is in Alaska.

(21:57):
And it was fascinating, just like the whole background. They, I mean, they started from zero, like the entire story of Hollywood video, why this one still exists. Um, for, for those listening that don’t know what that is. Um, <laugh>

(22:12):
back in the day,

(22:13):
you used to have to go <laugh>

(22:15):
like Savages

(22:16):
. How do you even describe,

(22:19):
I don’t even know

(22:20):
VHS anymore. I if you Google it Hollywood video, it’s awesome. Uh, the concept, the email they sent about that was just really cool. And, um, it’s, it’s storytelling, you know, every Sunday about entrepreneurs and stuff like that. So if you subscribe to the Hustle, at least look at it for those Sunday stories. Those are awesome. Um, but those daily email newsletters are awesome. So that’s definitely my favorite so far. And that’s, that’s the hustle,

JIM CARTER (22:46):
Definitely a fan, on the hustle as well. Um, you know, a lot of this, you know, for anybody who’s, who’s gonna come in and, and start subscribing to this, the, the point isn’t to get overwhelmed with too much to read, it’s to have options. Right? You might not like some of the things that are coming up and just like you do with an email you don’t wanna reply to, what do you do? You archive it, you’re done. It’s fine. But the nice thing too, something to think about is if you’re anything like me, you store everything in your email and you know that it’s in a place where it’s indexed and it’s searchable for the future. So for example, rt, like I bet you couldn’t tell me the day that you got that email, but I know that you could go into Gmail and you could search for it and you could find it and you can go back and reference it.

RT CUSTER (23:25):
Not a whole lot of emails that have the word Hollywood video. Hollywood

JIM CARTER (23:30):
Hollywood Video

RT CUSTER (23:30):
In it. Yeah. So. You’re totally, you’re totally right. I’m sure I could just find that and read it again if I wanted to be reminded of the story. That’s, that’s cool. That’s a good point.

JIM CARTER (23:38):
And Just, just to give you an idea about like, thinking about ways that you can utilize emo for more, because here’s your Deck guy. I have been archiving in one single inbox now, my email for about the past 18 years. And I have basically every message that I’ve ever gotten through all my different email addresses and I’ve put the work in to do this. But I have in a chronicle of the last, basically two decades of my life, if I need to go back and find something, I have that and I have the power of Google search in my inbox. So just think about that. If, you know, regardless of where you are with email, whether you just set one up or whether you’ve been doing it for a while or it’s just an absolute mess, the more quality information you can store in your inbox so that way you can get to it in the future, why wouldn’t you wanna do that if you were looking for ideas, if you’re looking for strategies, if you were looking for names and things like that, the ability to then search something very personal to you that is only for you is really powerful.

(24:33):
And that’s one of the reasons that we really love email newsletters too, because it brings all that together. And that’s something that I just personally use, but I know that that would add a lot of value for you moving forward.

RT CUSTER (24:45):
Totally. Totally. So the, the next one we have is Product Hunt, and this is another one that I’ve heard about, but I don’t currently subscribe to. So why do you subscribe to this, Jim?

JIM CARTER (24:56):
Yeah, so I actually met the founder Product Hunt, uh, while back when I was living up in San Francisco, Ryan Hoover, he started Product Hunt as a company by being an email list. So just like your example with Sam Par, you know, selling the Hustle, 30 million

RT CUSTER (25:14):
Reasons to start a newsletter,

JIM CARTER (25:15):
<laugh> one more massive reason,

RT CUSTER (25:16):
That’s what we should call this episode

JIM CARTER (25:18):
If that’s, that’s actually, we should probably rename it. <laugh> Ryan had created this email newsletter because he just loved keeping up with all of the fun products that were coming out in the Bay area. And there became this kind of subscriber base. In fact, I went to a meetup that was just based off the newsletter when I was up in the Bay Area, and there was just a bunch of people who had subscribed to the email who all loved the pulse of what was coming out. And he found that there was so many people that actually just loved being on the edge, like the bleeding edge of all of the new products that are coming out into the world in the tech space. He’s like, well, I can turn this into a company. And he did. And it become insanely popular. So Product Hunt not only is a great website where you can search lots of different product ideas.

(26:00):
There’s, there’s a SaaS product for literally everything, but totally in this case, the newsletter’s fantastic and they round up kind of a pulse of what’s coming up with product and tech and SaaS based businesses, software as a service. But there’s also big brands too. So for example, if Apple launches something brand new, they’ll still cover it here. But you know, the, the brand new startup that has the first product that just gets launched for the first time, they’ll, they’ll launch right alongside it. And it’s very community driven, so everybody up votes it kind of like Reddit, you know what they love and they take the best of that and then they roll it into the newsletter. So it’s one of my favorites to just kind of skim and check out. And if there’s a really cool looking product that be beneficial, I take a minute and I check it out and we usually send them to the team. So this, this is one of my favorites just to kind of keep a pulse on the new products that are coming out into the world.

RT CUSTER (26:52):
Right. That’s awesome. So the, you know, speaking of keeping a pulse on things, I am one that I really like financial news and just like the economy and Wall Street and all that kind of stuff. And I’ve tried to navigate like how to get that news without it being overwhelming and I’m not gonna subscribe to the Financial Times physical newspaper. Like that’s, that’s too much for me. And I’m a meme guy. And so I started following this guy on Instagram called Lit Liquidity, and it is lit. It’s so funny. I know, I, I shared, I shared a couple, and I think he started following ’em too, Jim, but, um, it’s really liquidity is I, I don’t know if he’s come out and like said like who he actually is, but for a long time he was kind of like this, this ghost on Wall Street writing about all the, the things about Wall Street that people didn’t wanna talk about.

(27:50):
And now he’s, bec had this huge following and he writes a, an email called Exec Sum and it’s basically financial news that’s relevant and it’s all about, it’s a daily newsletter that curates the major news from Wal Wall Street. Um, but they add in humor and memes and it’s mostly read by, you know, hundreds of thousands of like, bankers, investors, venture capitalists, angel investors, like people who want to invest their money into the stock market or, um, just want to keep a pulse on all that kind of stuff. And I’m one of those people. And so if you like learning about the economy at a high level, what’s trading for what, who’s selling what stocks to who and why. And also just seeing some really funny memes <laugh> about all of that. Um, exec sum and liquidity or just fantastic. So can’t recommend that enough.

JIM CARTER (28:45):
And you gotta follow the Instagram account. Um, em, the the funny thing about it is like if you also follow a few other like financial meme accounts, it’s always like the top comment because he just always has too Fast comments. Like, I’m here for the comments on this guy

RT CUSTER (29:00):
It’s So good. Yeah, he just tosses in. It’s so funny.

JIM CARTER (29:05):
Cool. Well, we are almost to the end of our list. Um, let’s, uh, let’s run through the last couple of these, uh, to finish it up, man. So we got, we got two more on the list and they’re from the same company. Morning Brew is, uh, is has been a favorite for a while. And I just wanna mention, there’s also a tech edition that, that I personally love. It’s just called The Tech Brew, but Morning Brew is really a big roundup of a lot and I think it’s a good one to end on, is it’s everything from politics to world to markets, and it’s, it’s just a really good daily periodical. So, you know, if you were watching the news and you saw a little bit of international, a little bit of economics, this, this is almost simple of exactly what you would get on the news, but kind of curated for your inbox. And, uh, this is just a great one that we love. And like I mentioned, there’s also a tech edition where they talk about AI and crypto and startups. That’s also just a personal favorite.

RT CUSTER (29:59):
Yeah, yeah. And Morning Brew is great. Um, if you’re like me and you want a little bit of that tech stuff and maybe you can link over to the Tech Brew. Um, and, and if you’re like Jim and you really like all that tech stuff and crypto and all that, um, the, the tech brew looks really cool. I’ve, I’ve seen it a couple times just when I think you’ve probably forwarded me some stuff like that. And so that one is another one where it’s a lot of stuff, a lot of really good content and a lot of like world news. It’s like bigger stuff. And so if you’re interested in keeping up with that, um, definitely, definitely would highly recommend that. So let’s round this out with like, why we’re talking about all this, why we love emails so much and you know, kind of putting our money in our team where our mouth is.

(30:43):
So Carter and Custer agency has a service called Message Multiplier. And like I said in the beginning, if you are not writing at least one email newsletter every week to your audience, you’ve already lost. And I mean that from my heart. And so from my heart, we’re here to help. Message Multiplier is a service where we help you plan, build, run, and grow your email list your email following. We have a team of copywriters that write all of this content for you and with you. And we spend a ton of time with you up front to figure out, alright, what is your email going to talk about every week or a couple times a week? What subjects are you going to discuss? What are you gonna share with your following your audience? And how are you gonna do that? And how are you gonna show up every single week sending every single, for instance with Vortic every Tuesday afternoon?

(31:42):
You know, how do you do that? So that’s what Message Multiplier is, that’s what we offer. You can see a link to that down at the bottom, you know, on the show notes or in in the YouTube, uh, description. And if you’re interested in that, we can set you up with our team, get you on a discovery call, map that out with you, you’ll talk to one of us most likely about message multiplier. Cause we just love email marketing and we can’t recommend it enough. It’s just so vitally important. And it’s actually, I think, Jim, that’s our, our least expensive service because we really, if you’re gonna do one, you should do that one. And we just feel really strongly about that. So, um

JIM CARTER (32:23):
we do, man, it, it’s, it’s because we’re so passionate about email purpose of this, this episode is because we love it and we understand the importance of getting out there and having a consistent message over time. RT, like you mentioned in the beginning, you know, with Vortic, you’ve been sending how many years now for Vortic

RT CUSTER (32:39):
Almost, yeah, almost three years. Every Tuesday afternoon for three years. Uh, we send a weekly roundup of the last, you know, handful of watches that we made, um, where we’re going this, this week on a trade show or an event, new products coming out, all that kind of stuff. Um, and I still personally write that email because I think it’s massively important. And, and that’s a really good example. If you want to see our message multiplier service in action and see what that’s like, go to vorticwatches.com/newsletter and you can sign up for that. Especially if you like watches, you’ll get one weekly newsletter and you’ll see how that works. The other part of our message multiplier service is we write the onboarding sequence or the customer journey for you. And that’s, if you don’t know what that is, it’s basically at least 10 automated emails that you receive totally evergreen after you sign up for the list.

(33:33):
And most of these emails that we just told you about in the last, you know, 20 minutes or so, they all have an automated sequence that welcomes you to the list. And it says, thanks for joining the Hustle. The next few emails are gonna tell you why you should open these emails every day for the next few years. And that’s vitally important, is that welcome series. And so we also help with the strategy, logistics and, uh, sending of all that stuff. So yeah, can’t recommend, um, signing up for that if, if you, especially if you like watches, you know, that’s, that’s a good one. And then, um, if you wanna follow along with the Fast Foundations community Mastermind podcast, et cetera, go to fastfoundations.com/newsletter. And again, you’ll see our Carter and Custer agency team in process here in motion. You can see what that looks like and you’ll get at least one email a week from our team and see what and how we do all of this.

JIM CARTER (34:27):
We invest in it because we believe in it and because it works. So that’s all we got for you today. Thank you all so much for tuning into the show and, uh, you know, we wanna make sure that we’re always talking about the topics that you want to hear about. So if you have any ideas for topics that, uh, Carter and Custer here can dive into and expand on for you, never hesitate to reach out to us. Um, catch us on social or uh, shoot us an email. Seriously, we do check email if you couldn’t tell. We appreciate you. Have a great day.
